Irene Lipetsker DMD restores Jennifer's Smile

Jennifer is a 35 year old graphic designer who was in the process of looking for a new job and possibly moving. She did not like the look of her teeth and came to Dr. Lipetsker looking for speedy procedures that might improve the appearance of her smile. She realized that she had orthodontic problems but, because of both esthetic and time concerns, she did not want to wear braces.

The Diagnosis

The displeasing appearance of Jennifer’s smile was caused primarily by three factors. First, she has an asymmetric bite, whereby her teeth were pushed largely to one side of her mouth. This problem is traditionally corrected with braces in childhood, but the treatment had not been done in Jennifer’s case. Second, a number of Jennifer’s front upper teeth had old discolored restorations. Finally, Jennifer’s natural teeth color is very dark.

The Treatment

Jennifer was a candidate for what is called an instant orthodontics. During the first appointment, Dr. Lipetsker and Jennifer discussed the appearance of Jennifer’s teeth and treatment goals. At the second appointment Dr. Lipetsker placed temporary crowns on Jennifer’s teeth. At that time they started the teeth whitening on the lower teeth to match the new upper ones. Jennifer remained with the temporary crown for two weeks to ensure that she liked their look. In two weeks, Jennifer returned to the office with her comments and Dr. Lipetsker made some minor adjustments. One week later Jennifer had her porcelain crowns. The entire treatment process took only three visits over several weeks.
