Irene Lipetsker DMD restores Ann's Smile

Ann is a 40 year old Program Manager who was self-conscious about her smile. She came into the office after several coworkers remarked on her "stern" demeanor despite her warm personality. Ann was not sure what she needed done, she just wanted to smile with confidence.

The Diagnosis:

Ann had low gums and short teeth (a "gummy" smile) which made her mouth appear disproportional when she smiled. The brown spots scattered throughout her teeth were discoloration of old fillings. Finally, in her youth, Ann had both of her canine teeth extracted. The canines, long cone-like teeth that are visible in the corners of the mouth when you open your lips, are a critical component of a proportional, esthetic smile.

The Treatment:

Dr. Lipetsker first referred Ann to an in-house periodontist for a cosmetic gum surgery. The surgery, that lasts about as long as a root-canal, raised the gum line, exposing more of each tooth. Six weeks later, once the gum line stabilized, Ann came back for another two hour appointment where Dr. Lipetsker shaped Ann’s teeth and prepared them for veneers. Once the laboratory manufactured Ann’s veneers, she came back for her last appointment where Dr. Lipetsker attached the veneers and coached Ann on smiling techniques.
